Masala Bar

Masala Bar

Located in Cummins India Campus, Balewadi, Masala bar as you see has a beautiful entrance. The place inside is not as huge, interiors are lit and seating arrangements are comfortable for everyone.Bar section is right in the center of the place. Beautiful food (yes, I said the food is beautiful, because the presentation is such) keeps coming out of the kitchen window making the place happening with good music.

Even the simplest of food has been reformed into an awestruck dish. I was spell bound by the presentation of every single dish. To see or to eat was the dilemma.

Head on straight to this perfect place to spend good time with friends or partner over food, drinks and with good music. This place has it all and won’t make a big hole in your pocket. Yeah, a complete package in budget. What else one can ask for a sorted weekend?

The staff is courteous, and service is quick.

We started off with the mocktails

Sea Side – Mix of orange, thyme and kafir lime. I am not a huge fan of kafir so this drink didn’t impress me much.

Berry Cooler – Rasberry with Strawberry flavor was a good combo. The sweet and tangy flavor surely hit my palate.

Passion Fruit Virgin Mojito – Mojitos are my favorite and the safest mocktail you can opt for. The fusion of passionfruit in Mojito was good, perfect balance of sweet and sour taste.

Heaven on Earth – Watermelon syrup along with kewda water and cranberry juice with a hint of basil. This was a perfect blend of flavours.

Appetizers –

Chini Chinese Bhel

Chini Chinese Bhel

Chini Chinese Bhel, Spring Onion – As this was a tasting table the menu was set, I was just going through the menu, the first thing that caught my eye was ‘Chini Chinese Bhel’ and in no time I saw it coming towards our table. You can imagine the excitement level.

Chinese Bhel was plated in a small curvy dish looking bright and colorful. The taste was equally good with balanced flavors. I liked the twist of peanut chunks added to the bhel to give it a nice bite. #Recommended.

Pyaaz Ke Challe, Anna Gun Powder – As interesting as it sounds. Batter dipped, crisp fried onion rings coated with gun powder, served along with mint chutney. The texture was perfect. The spiciness of gun powder, the sweetness and sharpness of onion made it a perfect combo.

Kamal Kakdi Salad

Kamal Kakdi Salad

K.K.K.K. Karrari Kamal Kakdi, Bangkok Salad – With the freshness of vegetable noodles and goodness of crushed peanuts, topped with crisp lotus salad had an amazing sweet and tangy dressing. A refreshing salad, good to start with for a hot summer day.

Kutch Nu Kucchi Dabeli

Kutch Nu Kucchi Dabeli

Kutch Nu Kacchi Dabeli, Anar and Peanut Chat – What an amazing makeover to the street side selling kacchi dabeli. This dish justified the level of the place with not only its beautified version but with taste as well. That’s the difference it makes to have the same dish at street side stall and a fine dine place. A wonderful plating with very basic ingredients like bareek sev, peanuts and anar (pomegranate), very well decorated with nicely placed tiny flowers. Perfectly balanced with taste of sweetness and tanginess.

Murugan Idli Podi

Murugan Idli Podi

Murugan Baby Idli, Apdi podi podi podi – Idlis shaped into fingers and done crisp with podi masala, garnished with onion tomato South Indian chutney. Loved the concept to turn the dish into goodness of taste and looks.

World Famous Paneer Tikka – Soft, melt in mouth paneer chunks, nicely marinated with a taste of achari flavor, served along with mint chutney and achari dip. The achari flavor was not a regular one like we get elsewhere but with twist of nimbu (lemon) achari flavor. The creaminess of paneer with tanginess of achari flavor was very well in coordination.

After exceeding our expectations to another level, it was time for mains and it did not fail to impress us all over again–

Starters were just a trailer, show was just begun.

Carbon Bhaji

Carbon Bhaji

Carbon Bhaji, Carbon Pav – After seeing so many twists and unique makeover it was time for something major to see and eat as it was Mains after all. All new black bhaji and pav is the real taste to hit the palate. Full of garlicy and buttery flavor of bhaji with softest ever black pav was a visit to God of foods. Loved the flavors and concept. These were the softest ever pav I have ever had.

Pesto Khichdi

Pesto Khichdi

Puffed grains and Pesto Khichdi – Eating out and having khichdi, that doesn’t sound fascinating, right? But it was not only fascinating but tasted delicious as well. Beautifully presented in a bowl with rolled papad. This puffed rice khichdi was creamy and pesto flavor was bang on.

Though we were stuffed a lot, but who needs space to have desserts, it hits the heart directly.

Faces of Chocolates

Faces of Chocolates

Faces of chocolate – Scoop of vanilla icecream covered with the chocolate cake crumbs like a brown snow (imaginary), topped with chocolate spaghetti and mixed with chocolate chunks, served along with hot chocolate sauce. This dessert truly has the ability to bring you back to life even from the scariest of dreams. This was not a dessert but a bowl of heaven. #HiglyRecommended

Gulab Air Jamun

Gulab Air Jamun

Gulab Air Jamun – Soft gulab jamuns topped with foamed rasmalai. Foamed form of rasmalai was too light and fluffy and perfect to along with soft gulab jamuns.
