It is exciting when a fine dine place decides to host a street side food festival, isn’t it? The Four Points by Sheraton is hosting Food Festival – ‘Puneri Katta’, which includes all the street food one should have. How amazing is that. Need not to worry about hygiene and eating in open air while standing.

It is interesting for all Puneites to find all the favorite street food under one roof in the best of comforts. To give the feel of street side food, the stalls were arranged in open lawn. All the live counters, ready in service to make fresh and customized food as per choice.

Chaha/ Tea – As soon as you enter the lawn, smell of fresh tea engulfs you. Nicely arranged jars of very famous Shrewsbury cookies, Nan Khatai and Cream roll to have along with bubbling hot tea. On the side laying freshly made Bhakarvadi, Chakhli and Kothimbir vadi. None of the teatime is fulfilling without having a bite of these snacks.

Loni Dosa – Next was live counter of Loni Dosa. A soft, sponge and freshly prepared dosa is best to start with. Served along with two chutneys and batata bhaji. It was perfectly made with required texture and super light.

Poha & Rassa – In Pune, Poha is served along with rassa, which is a spicy gravy. Essential in breakfasts.

The main course had all essentials that we find in daily menu at every household in Pune.

Thalipeeth, made with mix of flours with some onion, green chilies and few spices. This one tasted amazing.

Zunka Bhakri , A traditional Indian bread of Pune, made with bajra or millet flour. Served along with pitla (semi liquid sabzi made with gram flour or besan).

Shrikhand Puri – Summer esssentials in every Puneites home. Shrikhand (made with hung curd with lots of sugar and cardamom) served with fried puris.

Puran Poli – No occasion in Maharashtrian’s home is complete without the aroma of freshly made puran polis in kitchen. A sweet Indian bread made with wheat flour, stuffed with chana dal and jaggery with few spices.

To delight the Non- Vegetarians over there, next was the stall of Chicken Keema, Anda Bhurjee

Bun Maska – Irani cafes are the history of Pune, which are very famous till date. Bun Maska is one of delicacies that every Puneri loves.

Chat Counter – One thing that every Indian loves to eat. Ragda pattice and Pani Puri stall was a hit with customized chat and pani puri.

Vada Pav – How would this festival have done justice without having every Puneri’s essential daily food. Think of street food of Pune and the first thing that strikes mind is Vada Pav. Be it anytime of the day you can find vada pav anytime on any street. Freshly deep fried bondas placed in between pav, served along with sengdana (peanut) chutney and fried green chili.

– Puneris love to eat spicy food and and this one dish tops the list. Every weekend morning breakfast starts with Misal Pav. The one I had here was bang on with flavours. Simply loved it.
