Pre-Preparation required for Matar Paneer Pulao –

For any rice preparation, always soak rice well in advance.

Thaw the peas if using frozen. Finely chop onion and make tomato puree. Keep all the suggested ingredients ready.

How to make Matar Paneer Pulao at Home –

Heat oil and butter together. Fry paneer on a high flame and set aside.

For masala, heat oil, splutter cumin seeds and add whole spices. Next add sliced onions and cook until slightly fried. Now add finely chopped onion and cook till translucent.

Next add ginger-garlic paste and suggested spices. Cook for a min and add tomato puree. Cook till its nicely done. Add fresh cream and give a good mix.

Now add peas and fried paneer. Give it a mix. Finally add soaked rice and stir gently.

Add water as required. Cover and cook for one whistle on high flame and one on low flame. Open the pressure cooker only when steam is released by itself. Serve hot.

Things to keep in mind while making Matar Paneer Pulao –

1. Make sure to soak rice beforehand. This will help in cooking rice perfectly yielding long grain.
2. 1 cup of raw rice will yield 2 cups of cooked rice.
3. Cook onion tomato masala well.
4. Do not overcook the rice and open the pressure cooker only when steam is released by itself.
5. Use good quality long grain basmati rice for this recipe.
6. Add 1.5 times of water, double quantity of water at times will turn the rice mushy. It totally depends on the quality of rice you use.
7. Adjust the flavours and spice level as per taste.
8. Do not stir a lot after adding rice else it will break.

Step by Step Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe –

 

Soak Rice –

1. In a large bowl add rice and wash it thoroughly 4-5 times or until clear water comes out.

2. Let it soak in enough water for about 10-30 mins.

 

Fry Paneer –

3. Heat oil and butter in a pan.

4. Fry paneer on a high flame until golden brown.

5. Transfer paneer to a bowl, add warm water and let it aside.

 

Prepare Masala –

 

6. Heat oil is a pressure cooker. Splutter cumin seeds.

7. Add bay leaf, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon and cardamom. Give everything a good mix.

10. Also add ginger garlic paste and give it a nice mix.

  • 1 Tbsp Ghee/Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 200 gms Paneer
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds

  • 1/4th Cup Sliced Onions
  • 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4th Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Kasuri Methi
  • 1/2 Cup Tomato Puree
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4th Cup Frozen or Boiled Peas
  • 200 gms Fried Paneer
  • 1 Cup Soaked Rice
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1 3/4th Cup Water
