Oats Dosa Recipe

Oats dosa is a healthy and nutritious recipe. It is easy to make and does not require any pre-planning. It can be prepared using only a few ingredients usually available at home.

Ingredients
  

  • Powdered Oats - 1 Cup
  • Rava/Sooji/Semolina - 1/2 Cup
  • Rice Flour - 1/4th Cup
  • Curd - 1/2 Cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • Oil/ Ghee/Butter

Instructions
 

  • Grind rolled oats into a fine powder. Transfer it to a mixing bowl.
  • Add rawa, rice flour, curd, water (as required) and salt.
  • Mix everything well together.
  • Let it rest for 20 mins (approx.). It will soak the water and increase in volume.
  • Add water to adjust the consistency. It should be flowing consistency.
  • Heat dosa tawa till it starts to smoke. Pour oil and sprinkle some water, it should start bubbling immediately. (Watch video for better understanding).
  • Wipe off the excess water using kitchen towel or tissue.
  • On a high heat, pour the batter and spread it outwards in circular motion.
  • Lower the heat and let it cook till upper part is dried up.
  • Pour oil, ghee or butter. Spread evenly.
  • Switch the heat to high and cook till the dosa is crisp brown from the bottom.
  • Fold and serve hot.

Notes

• Use regular rava/sooji, not the idli rava.
• Let it rest well as it will absorb the water content and combine well.
• Make sure the tawa is really hot before starting to make dosa.
• Sprinkling water helps to regulate the temperature. Repeat the procedure (mentioned above) every single time to make each dosa perfect.
• If using iron dosa tawa, apply oil all over it and let it rest for at least an hour. This will prevent it from sticking and ease the cooking.
